What is UHP suppression technology?
The ultra-high pressure suppression system requires 1/3 to 1/10 less water and foam supply than a traditional fire fighting vehicle, enabling smaller, more maneuverable platforms to take the place of larger trucks.
Our systems are designed to specifically meet the needs of the modern firefighter, integrating a variety of platforms ranging from ATV and pick-up based to full size and custom chassis configurations.
For generations high pressure systems have been the solution to a multitude of fire fighting issues, since Chief Sullivan of the San Francisco Fire Department recognized the potential at the end of the 19th century for the first generation of fire hydrants. Until recently, the technology did not exist to translate high pressure into a highly effective, transportable suppression system. Over the last several years HMA Fire, in conjunction with the USAF – AFRL Fire Research Laboratory at Tyndall AFB, FL, has been at the forefront of research and development to create a superior system that can be just that.
Our ultra-high pressure suppression systems have been successfully transitioned from years of intense research on hydrocarbon fuel to real world applications, including wildland fires and structural operations.
Ultra-high pressure is the creation of miniscule water droplets delivered at an extremely high velocity. Use of this method to extinguish fire quickly separates the fire from the fuel source and leaves a thin foam blanket in the wake to prevent the fire from
reigniting.
